Alberta
has long recognized the importance of investment in science and
research as a critical element for a prosperous future. In 1921,
Alberta created the first provincial research council. The investment
has continued and the Alberta Research Council celebrates its 85th anniversary this year.
The Government of Alberta recognized the important
role that science and technology play in future prosperity
of the province and created the Alberta Science and Research Authority
in 1994.
ASRA
sees a future where Alberta's world-class innovation research and
development system contributes to the continued
economic prosperity and well being of our province and our people.
Our excellent science and research infrastructure (including people,
knowledge, equipment and facilities) form the basis for the
development, adoption and commercialization of new technology,
products and processes that are recognized and sold globally to secure
our future prosperity and maintain our high quality of life.
